or “check out the cool book I scored a free copy of at Quilt Market” lol!!!
Ok, seriously though, this book is REALLY fun and the fact that I got one at Market only means that I got one of the early copies (and autographed, as I like ALL my personal copies of books to be) so I can share with you how much I liked it! Rebecca (Yaker) and Patricia (Hoskins) are on a mission to help you use up that stash! Times are tight and I think most of us have spare one yard (and less) cuts laying about that are just the perfect size for the 101 projects in this book. Yes, I said ONE HUNDRED AND ONE PROJECTS that take ONE yard (some even less) of fabric. And don’t think one yard is just enough for a purse or child’s skirt. Cut on the bias, you can make a tween skirt, halter top or soft spot for your favorite pet.
Plus, with only one yard of fabric, these projects are easy to follow and come together quickly, giving the advanced or beginning sewist a satisfying sewing experience. My husband is out of town, yet I manged to whip together these TWO Toddler Art Smocks (pg 214) in one day. I actually added a couple inches of length to Aurora’s (right) but you can see the generous fit would be suitable for many sizes…

I just chose the smocks randomly because with SO many projects in this book, it was hard to decide which one to start with! I’ve marked a few also that I think will be great for Aurora’s early sewing ventures. She’s 6 and just itching to start sewing on my regular machines. If you are planning to sew some holiday gifts, One Yard Wonders would be a great place to start, as well as a great value for your pattern library. MSRP of $21 for 101 projects means just 21 CENTS per pattern!
AND if that’s not enough for you, the folks at Storey Publishing are giving 25 lucky winners ONE yard of fabric every month for a year! As if your stash isn’t big enough already
Well, it will get smaller as you try all the delightful projects in this book! The link is up over there, top left, hurry and enter!
My copy of this book is hardcover with a concealed wire binding, which I like alot because it lays flat, but it’s also available in soft cover. Full size tissue paper patterns enclosed in an envelope inside. I didn’t place our order yet, so if you would like a copy of this great book, shoot me an email and I’ll get an order together for the store.
